Meet Our Fellows!
This fall Visionary Justice Storylab launched the Resisting Narratives of Erasure Series with our inaugural cohort of filmmaking fellows. Living and creating in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia, our fellows represent the vibrant creative visions of an emerging generation of queer, Black and Brown Southern filmmakers.
In October the fellows got a chance to dive deep into their liberatory creative processes and the technical aspects of filmmaking with panelists and guest instructors Taylor Alxndr, Felix Endara, Ja’Tovia Gary, Zia Mohajerjasbi, Ron Simons and Shontina Vernon during our two-day Filmmakers Learning Lab.
Since then, the filmmakers have been hard at work creating their short films. Each film responds to the series’ call for liberatory narratives from artists of color grounded in racial, gender, disability and queer justice and futures. The filmmakers are now days away from completing their projects.
All nine short films will premiere together in a public virtual screening in early 2021. (Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook and sign-up for our newsletter to stay in the loop about the screening!)
