Announcing the Resisting Narratives of Erasure Series
We are witnessing powerful uprisings in the movement for transformative social change, undergirded by decades of Black-led organizing and activism against police brutality, state sanctioned violence and mass incarceration. As we continue to dream and build a more just society, uplifting liberatory narratives of what is both possible now and in the future we imagine, is central to this effort.
With this in mind, Visionary Justice StoryLab presents Resisting Narratives of Erasure, an advocacy and artist investment series advancing liberatory narratives from artists of color. Resisting Narratives of Erasure features stories and insights from BIPOC, queer, trans and gender non-conforming writers, artists, and filmmakers on contemporary issues such as prison abolition, decolonization, solidarity across diasporic cultures, and more. Resisting Narratives of Erasure provides a platform for artists to share ideas and perspectives on these topics, their art, and lived experiences in a public format, and to create work grounded in narratives of racial, gender, disability justice and queer liberation.
Resisting Narratives of Erasure takes place fall 2020 and consists of an Idea Lab (artist talks in an online forum) and the Filmmakers Lab, a fellowship program for media creators.
